Christian men are often told to lead, be intentional, and ask women out at church. But what actually happens when they follow that advice?
This video walks through the real mechanics of approaching women inside the local church and why the process can become far more complicated than simply “putting yourself out there.” From finding an appropriate moment to approach, to navigating intentionality, attraction, friendship, rejection, and dating itself, we explore why repeated attempts can eventually leave some Christian men wondering whether pursuing women at church is worth it at all.
We also discuss:
• Why church often provides very few natural opportunities for a man to approach a woman
• How being too intentional can create pressure while being too cautious can create ambiguity
• Why getting a phone number or even a first date doesn’t necessarily mean romantic interest is mutual
• How trying to build friendship first can unintentionally contribute to the friend zone
• Why Christian men are often told to pursue while Christian women are encouraged to guard their hearts
• How repeated rejection, false starts, and failed relationships can eventually discourage men from continuing to approach
• Why clearer reciprocity from both men and women could make Christian dating less confusing
• Why singles events, dating apps, and other intentional spaces can remove some of the ambiguity that exists inside normal church life
• Why, despite all the frustration, a Christian man ultimately only needs to find one good wife
This isn't an argument that Christian men should stop approaching women or that Christian women owe men romantic interest. It's a conversation about whether telling men to simply “lead” and “ask her out” is enough to solve the challenges Christian singles are experiencing—and what might need to change if we hope to see more healthy Christian marriages.
