Jeremiah, known as **the Weeping Prophet**, lived during one of the darkest periods in biblical history. Called by God while still young, Jeremiah was given the difficult mission of warning Judah and Jerusalem about the consequences of their rebellion. For years, he preached repentance and warned of the coming Babylonian invasion, but many refused to listen.

Jeremiah faced rejection, persecution, imprisonment, threats, and suffering because he continued delivering God's message. Kings opposed him, priests rejected him, false prophets challenged him, and his own people turned against him. Yet Jeremiah remained faithful to his calling.

Eventually, King Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonian army surrounded Jerusalem. The city Jeremiah had spent years trying to save was conquered and destroyed, and many of its people were taken into Babylonian captivity. Jeremiah witnessed the terrible fulfillment of the warnings he had delivered for years.

His deep sorrow for Jerusalem and its people became one of the defining parts of his story, earning him the name **the Weeping Prophet**. Yet Jeremiah's prophecies were not only about judgment. He also spoke about hope, restoration, forgiveness, and God's promise of a **new covenant**.
