In her hands, Mary carries not an idea, but a wounded Face.
The crown of thorns tells the truth about our sin; the eyes of Jesus tell the truth about His love. She doesn’t hide either. She invites us to look straight at both: what we have done, and what He has chosen to do for us.

The Mother teaches the Church how to pray:
not by running from the Cross, but by standing before it;
not by pretending we are innocent, but by letting mercy name our wounds.

When she holds out the image of Jesus crowned with thorns, she is saying to every heart:
“Do not be afraid of this Love.
Let Him look at you.
Let Him forgive you.
Let Him be your King.”

All praise to Jesus Christ, the King who wears thorns for us.
