We live in an age where we'll do anything to avoid offending a friend — and nothing to avoid offending God. That's the sin of omission.
This week a friend posted about being the only Catholic at a non-denominational garden club meetup, where she was piled on for her faith. When I stepped into the comments to defend the Church, the conversation turned into something far bigger than a Facebook argument — it became a lesson about fraternal correction, and the souls we're too polite to speak to.
What happens when we stay silent? What do we owe the people we love who've left the faith, left the sacraments, or are living outside the Church? Scripture is not gentle about this. John 6:66 tells us those disciples walked away — and Jesus let them.
In this video I share three stories:
• A client with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis and the sale I risked to tell him the truth
• My own sin of omission confronted in 2008 by a woman with an ice pick of truth
• Why a post about a Pride service with a drag performance on the altar ended with my friend apologizing to the wrong person
If you've been told that calling out sin is "judgy," this one's for you. God doesn't want complacent people. He wants people on fire for Him.
St. Joan of Arc, pray for us. ????
